Scroll, 18″x32″, 2014

I’m completely in love with my recent black and white quilts.  They remind me of charcoal drawings.  However instead of the faint hiss of a charcoal crayon or pencil being drawn across the coarse surface of a sheet of paper the sound of their birth is the soft click of gears and whine of an electric motor in a 60 year old sewing machine.  I love the elegant beauty of this piece, the elegant curves and the three dimensionality throughout it. It never ceases to amaze me that this is fabric and thread and a little colored pencil.
